(Non-Generic) Reviews of AMC's Breaking Bad

3 Cool Breaking Bad Reviews
Andy Greenwald Review
I chose this article specifically because of the writer, Andy Greenwald;  his analytic style is none like I have seen in other critiques of this television program (I've read more articles on this show than any other). "Breaking Bad was an obsessive-compulsive’s dream, a series that took outrageous delight in assigning meaning and motive to the most minor of actions and micromanaging even the smallest detail."  The first section of the review focuses on how efficient the finale was in comparison to other programs such as LOST and The Soprano's, along with some notions about how much pressure we (viewers) put on the payoff of the endings of these television shows we come to adore so much. The second section of the article focuses on specific motifs that are expressed throughout the series as well as motifs from other shows. And the third section talks about the future of television and the industry in general and how television stations are investing far too much money on new series' that have no legs, no content further than an elite first couple episodes.

Negative Review of Breaking Bad

I wanted to switch it up for my second article and see what flaws reviewers had about the show. Sufficed to say there were not many, because the show is fantastic (subjective), however, the writer makes some well-backed up points about how the show "fails" (its not so much attacking the plot, more individual aspects such as racism and character inefficiency). The tail section of the article focuses on how the show went on for far too long and how the finale did not deliver, I tend to disagree with the points made to support these arguments, but this is the exact reason I chose a negative review, to to broaden the spectrum and vary content (not only read reviews that praise the show). I was hoping there would be a little more evidence (plot wise) to support the claims made in this review, but it represents how a decent amount of people feel from my experience of speaking to individuals about their opinions of the show. It is far less analytical in its style than the first article, seems more like

LA Times Review

This final review that I found is rather unique and unlike the various other reviews I came across in my search. This article takes positive and negative comments/opinions from reviewers around the globe, and lists them in sections. This was cool to read because I came across a lot of the article that this review was quoting in my search for reviews. "Either 'Felina' completely stuck the landing, to use a gymnastics metaphor, or it was too neat by half." Most reviewers were pretty black and white about the finale, no one seemed to have their feet in both doors (so to speak).
